My journey at Gratte Brothers started 22 years ago, when I started as a Project Administrator for the Foodservice division, operating out of our previous office in Knebworth.

I instantly loved working for Gratte Brothers; the togetherness of the employees along with management was very welcoming and remains a contributing factor to the longevity of the staff here.

My role within the company has continually changed, progressed, and challenged me and led me to my current position of Business Support Manager. One year into this role, I’m attending various training courses to develop my skills and enrich my personal and professional development in readiness for the next 22 years!

My career at Gratte Brothers started over 20 years ago as an electrician. I expressed an interest in project management and the company offered me a 2-year training programme including stints in design, estimating, surveying and engineering.

When we established a security division in 1992, I had the opportunity to transfer the skills I’d learned, and began project managing security installations for big retail clients and construction projects. Alongside the division’s expansion, I continued to progress and received promotions to Contracts Manager, Operations Manager and eventually Operations Director.

I’m testament to the fact that at Gratte Brothers, everyone’s aspirations, training and career progression is supported. We’re a family-run business where each one of us is made to feel part of a team; working together to develop personally alongside the company and share in its success.

My employment with Gratte Brothers started in 1999 as an Advanced Plumber. I was promoted to Technician Plumber and began assisting Site Managers with the running of projects, taking on responsibility for particular areas and systems. I was lucky enough to work alongside some great characters on some fabulous projects including The University of Arts and The Zetter Hotel.

Before the end of 2004, my career progressed further when I became Site Manager and took on Africa House, a mechanical services 10-floor refurbishment of a Grade II listed building, as my first project.

I’ve been employed in my current role for almost 15 years and continue to work on a variety of projects including the Bonhams Auction House in Mayfair and a luxury residential development in St. James. Gratte Brothers has continuously supported me in my career development and provided a range of interesting projects to work on.
