Gratte Brothers Group is officially a Forces friendly employer having signed the Armed Forces Covenant!
The Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) is a government established scheme that exists to ensure service leavers, reservists, veterans, currently serving personnel and their families are treated with fairness, respect and support.
To join the scheme, employers make a pledge which publicly commits them to becoming a forces friendly employer. Being a forces friendly employer means that we promise to acknowledge the wealth of transferable skills held by forces personnel, present them with the same opportunities as our civilian staff, and support the additional needs that their career transition may hold for them and their families. Within the AFC there are bronze, silver and gold awards which can be achieved by employers in recognition of their ongoing support for the Armed Forces.
We already employ a number of ex-forces personnel in various roles across the Group. Managing Director of Gratte Brothers Specialist Services, Barney Whiting, formerly served as an Infantry Army Officer and has been with Gratte Brothers since 2019. Alongside his regular duties, Barney has been spearheading an internal initiative at Group level to widen the talent pathways into the business, in conjunction with HR. As part of this, he has been the key driver in the Groups’ signing of the Covenant.
He commented that:
‘As a veteran I fully understand the expertise, immense capability and special skills that Service Leavers possess that can be utilised and developed within a civilian role. I am extremely proud of this significant milestone that demonstrates our commitment to support the Armed Forces community and the unique qualities they can offer to strengthen our business.’
We are looking forward to working towards the bronze, silver and gold awards within the scheme. It will be our pleasure to welcome talented ex-forces individuals into the business to share their knowledge, skills and unique professional experiences with the company.
