Our second Community Champion Award Winner is Andy, a Technical Writer in our software development team based in Warrington.
Andy started his COVID-19 volunteering activities before the lockdown was announced, putting together care packages from his own funds, for friends, family and neighbours for use in the event that they needed to self isolate. These packages contained food essentials, pet food where required and toiletries.
When the lockdown was imposed and Andy was furloughed he became an NHS volunteer. Andy needs to shield to protect members of his household, so ingredients are delivered to his home and he cooks and bakes for the vulnerable, effectively becoming the Chef for his local meals on wheels NHS food delivery.
In announcing the award David Gratte, HR Director of Gratte Brothers said “I want to thank you Andy for rising to these challenging times and helping your community in such a selfless way and I am proud to name you a Community Champion”.
Part of Andy’s award is a charitable donation made by the company on his behalf. Andy has chosen Scleroderma and Raynaud’s UK, a charity supporting people with this chronic disease of the immune system.
