Key project and leadership members from Equinix, ARUP, Gratte Brothers and supply chain partners gathered on-site at the LD10.4 data centre this August to celebrate a significant step forward in its redevelopment.
The topping out ceremony podium.
The topping out ceremony at LD10.4 marks a substantial moment in the project’s timeline and provided all site staff with the opportunity to celebrate together.
All staff on-site paused work to celebrate the occasion in the PPE free zone.
The Event
To acknowledge the exemplary efforts put into this project by everyone working at LD10.4, we listed every team member on our podium centrepiece: a giant Gratte Brothers ‘GB’, made entirely of team members’ names. All work paused for two hours for the ceremony, enabling the whole team to join in the celebrations.
Everyone who worked on the project had their name within the giant GB logo.
Equinix and site staff joined trade contractors on the newly built section of the facility, where the final part of the concrete was filled by Equinix and project team members. Words of thanks were also shared by Project Manager, Ian Butterfield, and Gratte Brothers Limited Managing Director, Remi Suzan.
A number of staff, including the Equinix team, helped finish the last pour of concrete.
Everyone attending enjoyed an array of food and drink, including a bespoke cake for the event. As everyone’s efforts across the project have been outstanding, it seemed fitting to provide everyone with an equal chance to be rewarded with a little something extra. So, we held a special raffle at the event for all LD10.4 project team members, with various prizes and Amazon vouchers up for grabs.

The Project So Far
The ceremony marked the milestone of the completion of the intricate structural build within a live data centre. 300 tonnes of steelwork had to be installed with only the smallest margin of error.
Gratte Brothers has been employed as Principal Contractor for Equinix at LD10.4 to build three new data halls, increasing capacity by 3.33MW of data within the existing facility.
Everyone involved has excelled on this project so far to ensure the project remains in line with the scheduled programme. The unwavering commitment from all staff is a testament to the professionalism shown on this project.
Thank you, project team!
