Last Thursday saw the return of The Big Curry Lunch at our Head Office. Once again the Waterside Restaurant was packed with staff, clients and friends of Gratte Brothers, all in aid of a great cause.
Now in its 16th consecutive year, the event supports ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which provides lifetime support to soldiers, veterans and their families. This year’s lunch ran across two sittings: the first for staff, and the second reserved for external guests and clients, hosted on behalf of The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals.
It was a scorcher of a day, and Commercial Director, Mike Rousell, reminded everyone that just 12 months ago we were insisting that at 32°C, it couldn’t get any hotter.. Well, this year blew it out of the water at 36°C! The beer flowed thanks to DVS, who supplied both the beer itself and the budget behind it, a welcome addition given the heat.
This year also marked the first appearance of Wes Harper as the new Master of The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, following Sue Jones stepping down from the role. It wasn’t Wes’s first Big Curry Lunch, but it was his first as Master, and he marked the occasion with a good speech, praising Gratte Brothers and Sue Jones, who was in attendance, and finding time for a joke about England’s progress in the World Cup.
